Summary: Two Christian missionaries trek to Scotland and agree to become the local Queen of the May and Laddie for the annual Tressock town festival. Little did they know, being the Queen of the May comes with a hefty price — their lives.\r
Review: Horror movies are allowed to get away with high-octane foolishness, the excuse normally being, "It's a horror movie!" However, Wicker Tree brings the bar of stupidity to an all-time low. A horrendous script and atrocious acting pollute every frame. The main question: "Is it supposed to be this bad?"\r
The Wicker Tree is a re-imagined version of The Wicker Man from Robin Hardy, who also directed this reincarnation. The Wicker Man is considered a classic, but there was no classy touch to The Wicker Tree. The leads (Jacqueline Leonard and Graham McTavish) stumbled on screen with zero chemistry. The script was humdrum rubbish. Even the cinematography was a pain to watch. The only redemptive moment was the final scene, which slightly pulled the messy film together. However, nothing could compensate for a tiresome flick that I would recommend to no one — a gumbo of foolishness.\r
I could only assume the forces behind Wicker Tree sought out to make one of the worst films ever. No logical person would consciously make a flick like this, package the final product and actually be proud of it. The joke must be on the audience. Hopefully the actors will get a shot at showing their talent in a better flick. No one's skills should be judged on the empty-headedness of such an exhaustively bad film.
