Go Nude | Beauty | Style | Lifestyle

Posted Mar. 20, 2008 -- Every beauty magazine continues to remind us that it’s all about color this season. What about those with color-phobia or those that are just too chicken to experiment. Sure plum, red and fuchsia are all the rage but never forget the subtle beauty of neutrals. When in doubt, go nude.

Shadow
Every color in the rainbow, including some that are not, can be found at the eye shadow counter. The glammed-up ladies at the MAC counter remind us, that when blended well, an eyelid full of color can look spectacular. While the average person may experiment with color chances are they are not cosmetic reps. Certainly try all the trendy colors, but remember that nude toned shadows add a hint of glamour that never gets old.

Use shades in the same color family that blend well with your skin. My browner sisters should go for mocha, bronze, and taupe shades for a flawless, natural eye. While those with lighter skin might use colors like blush or a barely-there shimmer for a subtle, pale glow. To the untrained eye it could even look beautifully nude.

Lips
It seems that most have caught on to the splendor of sheer glosses. Make up manufacturers in every market have tons of sheer shades to perfectly compliment every complexion. However with the recent rebirth of the 80’s, hot pink lips are a big trend. Reds, oranges and plums are also flying back on the shelves. If these colors work on you, add them to the rotation, but if you’re uncertain, go nude. You can’t go wrong with a neutral pout.

Nails
Nude nails are classic. Here again, nude doesn’t mean bare. Definitely put on a coat of clear or cotton candy for a simple finished look. If you can maintain brightly colored nails, go for it. Colored nails continue to be a fun way to dress up your hands. Just remember, nude nail tones are easy to maintain. When it’s retouch time, the flaws are hidden better.

Style Watch
Kimora Lee is a vision of natural beauty. She perfectly combines neutral shadows with a simple pale lips gloss. Careful not to draw attention to any one thing, she wisely kept her nails neutral too. Way to go nude!
