BECAUSE IT’S PARTY TIME Few cities make better use of summer than Chicago, which throws a whole string of parties in its front yard each year to celebrate the fact that it’s not freezing cold (for once). Check out: The annual Taste of Chicago, Blues Fest, Venetian Night, Chicago Air and Water Show and the less advertised Grant Park Music Festival.
PALM TREES, SAND, WATER Whose crazy idea it was to install palm trees on the city’s Oak Street Beach? Whoever you are, we salute you! At the top of Michigan Avenue, steps from the Armani and Prada boutiques, this appealing stretch of sand is where you’ll find the city’s sexiest people.
BECAUSE IT LOOKS DAMN GOOD There’s no denying that Chicago is one of the most handsome cities in the hemisphere. Chicago is made up of many distinct interesting neighborhoods. Visitors should spend some time outside of the tourist areas to really get a flavor of the city.
YUMMY FOOD Come for the infamous Chicago hot dogs or deep dish pizza or top ranked restaurants like Tru and Everest. Favorites tend to be mid priced ethnic restaurants out in the hood.
THE HISTORY. THE CULTURE It’s a great place to get to know. Chicago has several top notch museums including the Art Institute, Field Museum, Museum of Science & Industry, Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium. There are also many smaller fine museums throughout the city.
WHAT TO DO. SHOPPING OR SPORTS Rent a bike for a ride along the lakefront; take a walk through the parks, roller blade or even ice skate. Then, kick-back and spend time shopping on the Mag Mile, State Street or boutiques in the neighborhoods.
