Toni Braxton Kicks Off Autism Awareness Month
Singer Toni Braxton recently kicked off Autism Awareness Month by participating in a ceremony for Autism Speaks, a foundation dedicated to raising public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families and society. The co-founders of Autism Speaks, Bob and Suzanne Wright, and Braxton participated in the “Light It Up Blue” kickoff, which lit the Empire State building blue on April 1 at 11:15 p.m.
Braxton was named a celebrity spokesperson for the foundation shortly after learning her son Diezel had been diagnosed with the development disorder in 2007. Since then, she has been a serious advocate for autism, hoping to someday successfully conquer the issue, which affects millions of families.
