News of the passing of stylist and makeup artist Dariel Pulliam rocked not only the city of Atlanta, but the Black beauty industry as a whole. The beauty maven, who worked on BET reality show Frankie and Neffe, and VH1’s What Chilli Wants, always exhibited a warmth and charm that made everybody want to be his friend.
Known for his silky, wavy mane, you could always catch him cracking jokes and handling a marcel curling iron like nobody’s business. One thing was clear: He loved his job.
Pulliam was totally immersed in all things beauty and he loved using his impressive skills to make his pretties even prettier. This master MUA truly embraced the unique characteristics of his clients and found ways to give them their own distinct looks.
Celebrity friends of Pulliam reached out via Twitter to share their heartfelt condolences.
Chilli’s resident dating coach Tionna Smalls wrote: “My life is distraught. My friend, makeup artist and hairstylist Dariel Pulliam has passed. May he R.I.P.” The two worked together on the second season of What Chilli Wants.
Friend and Atlanta blogger Freddy O reported that Pulliam’s doctor cited a staph infection as the cause of the 29-year-old’s death. He died on April 4. The beauty guru will be greatly missed by the Atlanta community and his BET family.
