Media coverage this morning has been dominated by what’s being called the wedding of the century (sigh, since Beyonce denied us the moment to obsess over her every nuptial detail) and we couldn’t help but check out what Kate Middleton wore to wed Prince William at Westminster Abby in London.
After months of speculation about the dress, the new Duchess of Cambridge gave the world a major fashion moment this morning when she stepped out of her Rolls Royce Phantom in a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding gown and matching Alexander McQueen shoes. The lacy creation was simple and modern with sheer sleeves, a V-neck top and a modest train.
Like a true princess, Kate wore a diamond tiara by Cartier, which was originally given to Queen Elizabeth by King George VI in the 1930s. Kate reportedly did her own makeup so that her groom would actually recognize the woman he fell in love with and is said to be sporting Essie’s “Allure” shade on her nails.
Guests also dressed to the nines for the occasion. The ever posh Victoria Beckham was spotted with her hubby David Beckham and she accessorized a roomy navy dress (that she designed to fit over her baby bump) with a topper by Philip Treacy. Between Easter and the royal wedding coverage, we’re definitely inspired to add a fancy top hat to our own wardrobes!
Coverage of the regal affair is airing everywhere, but if you don’t have time to catch it during the day, tonight Real Housewives of Atlanta’s NeNe Leakes will co-host a royal wedding special, Will & Kate Forever, alongside gossip blogger Perez Hilton at 7/8c on Wedding Central.
