Fashion Report: Hot Mamas!
These amazing celebrity moms have style that reaches far beyond their closets. Check out what makes them so fashionable.
Though Erykah Badu’s most famous attire to date was her “birthday suit” in the controversial video for “Window Seat,” we can’t discount the other funky looks from the singer who birthed Seven, Puma and Mars Merkaba. From the debut of her bleach blonde Mohawk at last year’s Lollapalooza to the overalls worn at this year’s Coachella festival, Badu stays breaking the rules and bending the style bar. Her purple-coated lips, vintage leather jackets and A Clockwork Orange–inspired makeup have also been a source of style inspiration for her sea of eclectic fans.
"I want [my daughters] to realize the difference between the delicious fantasy that is fashion and real life,” Kimora Lee Simmons tells Stylelist.com about teaching her girls about style. Her life lessons come through as the mother of three (Ming Lee, Aoki Lee, Kenzo) perfectly blends casual with couture. The former head of Baby Phat loves to flaunt those long legs in a pair of tailored jeans and isn’t afraid of a little sparkle or bling.
Petite powerhouse Jada Pinkett Smith understands her size better than any other celebrity mom we know. The mother of minisuperstars Willow and Jaden takes great measure not to overwhelm her small frame with bulky pieces by always showing a little skin. Jada knows the power of a cinched waist and typically uses adornments, belts or an empire cut to add curve and dimension to her small, lean frame. If her skirts or gowns happen to tip below the knee, Jada goes with a bare neckline to pull eyes upward.
Halle Berry goes for classic sizzle. The mother of 3-year-old Nahla is a superfan of formfitted, low-cut dresses that show off her legendary frame. “I’m a lot more comfortable with my sensuality now than I was in my 20s. And I’m learning new ways to express it,” Berry recently revealed to More magazine. A fan of sexy silhouettes, Halle’s been known to rock more Versace than anything else.
