Lady O Feels the Burn for ‘Let’s Move!’ Campaign

Michelle made exercise look fun and easy at the latest event on the White House lawn.

Last week she taught you how to dougie, and this week First Lady Michelle Obama showed crowds how she keeps her arms tight and toned when she hit a one-armed pushup and other exercises on the South Lawn of the White House.

Lady O continued her “Let’s Move!” campaign to fight childhood obesity and turned her front yard into a playground for 80 kids and their parents during an event she hosted with the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition on May 9. She rounded up athlete friends including council co-chair gymnast Dominique Dawes, and council members including figure skater Michelle Kwan and NBA players  Grant Hill and Chris Paul to lead demonstrations at activity stations that included dancing, ball tossing and a three-part obstacle course.

During the fun, First Lady Obama announced three new physical fitness opportunities for military families. She said the International Health, Racquet and Sports Club Association would offer free memberships to immediate family members of actively deployed reservists. The American Council on Exercise would provide at least 1 million hours of free personal training and the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition will hold a series of events with military families.

“This isn't about physical prowess. It's about movement. And we have to go from sitting to standing to walking to moving,” she said.
