The new issue of W magazine is the publication's first ever full “Beauty Issue,” and while Hollywood heavyweights Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks take the cover, we’re excited to see some diversity in the pages.
Model and new face of Estée Lauder, Joan Smalls, graces the pages in an editorial titled “Model UN,” shot by Daniele Duella and Iango Henzi. The story also features Chinese beauty Sui He and New Zealand model Emily Baker.
Joan stands tall in the black-and-white spread in a lovely Afro and belted Lanvin bodysuit (the models also rock bodysuits by Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière and Nina Ricci). The native Puerto Rican beauty is compared to other fashion icons Liya Kebede and Beverly Johnson. The article likens her physique to Zoe Saldana’s.
