The TV star is cool with being called a first lady. Just don't call her a basketball wife.

Lala covers the premiere issue of Pynk magazine looking like an ethereal beauty. Inside the mag, the television personality dons vintage threads and discusses why she’s flattered to be considered the “First Lady of NY,” but not too keen on being a “Basketball Wife.”
The NY native was offered a spot on VH1’s insanely popular show, but she declined. "I have absolutely nothing against basketball wives, the show Basketball Wives, or anything like that. But I pride myself in being more than just a basketball wife. I understand that’s something that I am, but that’s not a title that I want to define me. I’d rather be known as a mom, a businesswoman, a producer, an actress, a TV host. I just felt like that didn’t fit who I was and where my career was trying to go.”
To become “First Lady of New York,” Lala was photographed wearing quite the regal ensemble. A wide brim hat, white blazer, daisy yellow blouse and salmon pink trousers make her look like the envy of every woman in the city. But don’t worry, Lala’s not letting the title go to her head. In fact, though she told Pynk it’s an “honor,” she finds herself giggling whenever someone calls her that. “I kind of laugh when people say it,” she says. “For people to even put us in the same category as Jay-Z and Beyonce — that’s just an honor in itself, but I don’t deal well with titles. To me, actions speak more than anything. It’s about being in New York now and being active, as New Yorkers get active in the community.”
Pynk hits newsstands soon.
