The former Project Runway contestant will show his designs in September.
This September, New York Fashion Week is boasting some fresh new design faces on the runways, including Project Runway alum Mychael Knight, who will debut his first collection.
Knight sent his designs down a Bryant Park runway during his stint on the reality show, and while he still aims to dress the everyday woman, this time around he says he’s more adventurous and brave with his designs. You will see something different,” he told Essence magazine. My collection is called the 'Lost World' which is mainly due to my fascination with dinosaurs and the Jurassic era.” I was watching the History Channel or Discovery Channel and saw a dinosaur and was so inspired. The collection is not literal; it has those elements, but is still very lighthearted, playful, with a few elements of extinction and distinction.”
Knight’s show will feature complete looks he’s designed right down to the accessories. He created five different shoe designs with Messeca that will be available in the spring and will also debut seven handbag styles he created with Mel Boteri.
