Is the rapper's latest zany outfit a knockoff?
Nicki Minaj is in deep puffballs after designer Jessica Rogers made claims that the rapper’s latest wacky outfit is a knockoff.
The ensemble in question: this pom-pom decorated top worn by Minaj to the recent Carolina Herrera show that garnered tons of attention.
Speaking to Fashionista.com, Rogers says it’s no coincidence that the artist is wearing her look, considering she’s sent her stylist images of her signature puffball dress in an attempt to work with her. However, she never heard back. Her clothing label, SomedayNewYorker, has been making these style dresses for over three years now.
“When I saw the photos [of Minaj at Carolina Herrera] I was in tears,” Rogers told the site. “I’ve worked very hard to make my dream of being a fashion designer come true. I have built contacts with Teen Vogue, Gaga, Katy Perry and Marina and the Diamonds has worn my garments. [Now,] I feel like everything has crumbled down.”
Rogers did get a hold of one of Nicki’s former stylists, but she claimed she denied Nicki was stealing her look and spewed some choice words at the concerned designer. “[She] started yelling at me, harassing me, and telling me that it’s a small community and I better watch what I say.”
Minaj has yet to comment.
