Get Schooled has just launched a campaign that could get students hopping out of bed in the morning...provided they pick up their phones. With the help of artists, athletes and other celebrities, the "Wake Up and Get Schooled" initiative will provide different phone call recordings that will be played for students in the morning and encourage them to get ready for the day. Some top names include Nicki Minaj, Wiz Khalifa, Ciara and Trey Songz.
"The pre-recorded messages, running through the school year until June 2012, stress the importance of getting up and going to school every day," says Marie Groark, the organization's executive director. "Studies show that students with more than 10 absences in a school year risk falling behind. Students with more than 20 absences have only a one-in-five chance of graduating."
