Essence Atkins is the latest star to show off a perfect preggers belly. See what you can use to look just as good!
2011 is the definitely the year of the pregnant diva. Between Beyoncé, Nia Long and now actress Essence Atkins, we can’t figure out who has a more spectacular glow.
Atkins, who revealed to Essence.com she’s having a fairly easy pregnancy, showed off her seven months of hard work with hubby Jaime Mendez. So just how are these lovely ladies maintaining stretch-mark free, gorgeous bellies? They’re paying close attention to keeping their tender skin hydrated and pampered. Check out these fabulous creams, lotions and body butters to rub on your growing bundle of joy.
Stretched skin can become incredibly itchy and chaffed, which inevitably leads to scarring. For best results, slather your tummy with safe butters every morning and night. Try Carol’s Daughter’s Sexy Belly, a mild-smelling rub that won’t bother mommies who have an aversion to fragrant creams and lotions. It contains Tamanu oil, which helps improve skin's elasticity.
For those with eczema, smooth on Mama Mio’s Tummy Rub Stretch Mark Butter. Mama’s high levels of Omega 3, 6 and 9 will soothe even the driest of bellies. If you’re looking for an at-home remedy, whip up raw shea butter with 20 to 30 drops of sweet orange essential oil, which will naturally help to brighten dark stretch marks.
Exfoliating your belly on a consistent basis will also prevent your chances of getting stretch marks. Simply keep a pair of bath gloves in the shower for use throughout the week. Apply soap and remember to rub gently.
