Editorial director Kierna Mayo dishes on the site's new look!

Nearly one year after Ebony magazine re-emerged on newsstands with a new, fierce look, Ebony.com has re-launched to rave reviews. The website revealed their gorgeous layout, complete with vintage EBONY mag covers. We spoke to the site's editorial director, Kierna Mayo, about her thoughts on the re-launch.
“The new EBONY.com is a labor of love that we are all super excited about,” Mayo tells BET.com. “It’s an interactive extension of EBONY magazine — the mag is all-new too — and it cements EBONY and EBONY.com as the premiere magazine brand for African-American audiences. That’s women and men.”
Mayo also assured us that, unlike the droves of blogs on the web, EBONY.com will not deliver a dizzying amount of irrelevant stories for number’s sake. “We’re not like any other site visually, and editorially, we are striving for a unique flavor that’s focused far more on quality than quantity. We may not push out a 100 stories a day, but the ones we do deliver you will read and remember.”
The new site is also very photo-heavy, providing readers with a memorable aesthetic to accompany features. “What makes us really special is our love affair with Black history,” Mayo continues. “Our vintage images are unparalleled and like nothing this generation has seen. We’re definitely trying to become a fixture in Black culture much in the way the magazine has. Check us out.”
