June Ambrose to Style Jay-Z for Carnegie Hall Benefit Shows
Celebrity stylist June Ambrose was spotted leaving Jay-Z, Beyoncé and baby Blue’s New York apartment with racks on racks of clothes last week for a fitting for the rapper’s first-ever performances at Carnegie Hall, to benefit his Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation and the United Way (February 6–7).
Jay-Z's style played the back to Kanye's buzz-worthy stage looks during their Watch the Throne tour as he opted for comfortable jeans, T's and his signature Yankee fitted. However, this week's performances are a fitting occasion for Hov to stunt with his dapper style side.
“Carnigie is calling,” she Tweeted after Jay’s Roc Nation DJ Young Guru shouted her out: “Getting fitted by @juneAmbrose. She’s skating on you ladies with these shoes!!!” (Ambrose stepped out for the appointment in the fab DSquared2′s “Skate Moss” boots, paired with plaid pants, a fur stole, a Miss Selfridge studded leather jacket and a black Birkin bag).
Whatever Ambrose has up her sleeves for the shows, it's sure to be fresh. She's been using her fashion expertise to upgrade Jay-Z's style for years. She revealed to Stylist.com she got him the covers of GQ and L'Uomo Vogue and said that working with him is "a true work/friendship relationship."
"Our families are close. When I gave birth to my second child, it was a week before he called me into work for the cover of a magazine. Everyone was extremely sensitive and sympathetic to the fact, and I wanted to go back to work. I’d rather work with people I enjoy being around, and truly when I work with him he challenges me in a way that a client should,” she said.
Hopefully the rapper, and his leading ladies, will make a cameo on the style maven's upcoming VH1 show, Styled by June, which premieres on March 19!
