... And how to avoid them!

Football’s biggest weekend is upon us — the 46th NFL Super Bowl championship game (February 4) — and you know what that means: Party time! While the menfolk are prepping for an afternoon of beer, wings and the big match between the New York Giants and New England Patriots, a lot of women (not all, but a whole heck of a lot) are simply looking forward to the big-budget production commercials and the halftime show ... and wearing an outfit that can get some kind of head-turn.
The perfect Super Bowl party outfit could be a tricky one: you want to look cute and festive but not do too much. What’s a girl to do? We have some ideas to keep you from getting a proverbial flag on the play:
Keep It Light: Fussy hair and complicated makeup? Save it for the club. Opt for easy breezy over "doing the most" this Super Bowl Sunday. Nobody’s saying you want to give your man a reason to yell “Unnecessary Roughness!” when he tries to touch your hair, but really, if you’re single and on the prowl, most eyes will be on the screen anyway and if you’re in a pair, your man will just be annoyed that you’re taking forever to get ready, thus making him miss kickoff time.
Looks Like Team Spirit: If you’re anything like us, you haven’t worn a jersey since 1993, so wearing one just to represent a team you’re not really rooting for one way or the other seems silly. Go for team colors instead to be festive and, if you can’t resist wearing team ‘nalia, try a graphic shirt instead of a full-on classic jersey.
“This Old Thing?”: Recycle something out of your wardrobe or opt for affordable basics, that way when you’re at the bar and the big, sweaty guys scream “Touchdown!” and inadvertently splash their beer all over you, you won’t be as pissed.
Here’s What to Wear: It is not the time for bodycon anything. Leave the skintight skirts and dresses at home and stick to roomy tights and loose tops. Layers are also a smart choice, plus they’re a good look for taking an outfit from day to night if you plan on hopping around to different gatherings during quarters. Bottom line: The game is way too many hours to be stuck in a cute and uncomfortable outfit you have to adjust every five seconds. That goes for shoes, too!
