As a token of their gratitude or perhaps a way to milk her celebrity, Croatia has granted Blue Ivy honorary citizenship. After Beyoncé shared a video of her and Jay-Z's vacation in Croatia's Hvar Island and talking about the Blue Ivy tree, the country experienced a surge in tourism from people wanting to see the baby's namesake tree.
“We woke up this morning, took a nice little walk, passed by this beautiful blue tree. I think it’s Blue Ivy, which would be quite appropriate!” Beyoncé shared on her Tumblr.
This media attention has made the island a popular vacation destination, and Lonely Planet named Hvar the 5th best vacation destination of 2012. So, Mayor Pjerino Bebic wanted to give a nod to the young family.

“The story of the origin of the name of your daughter has brought enormous media attention and therefore tourist promotion to the town and island of Hvar. Because of this, I have decided to confer on your daughter the status of honorary citizen of the town of Hvar.”
