Idris Elba has been selected by Esquire as part of the "next generation of Hollywood stars." With his own BBC show, Luther, cameos on several hit series and great acting chops, this is a no-brainer and we're happy to see the man getting some love. The British actor covers one of three covers for the magazine's September issue and is looking mighty fine alongside Taylor Kitsch.
In his promo video for Esquire's issue, Elba gives off a ton of charm, and explains why he loves being an international actor.
"When I first started it was at school," he says. "My report card would come back, man, I used to get A's in drama, B's and C's for everything else. So [my parents] realized I had talent in drama and wanted me to pursue it. When I told them I was going to be a professional actor, they let me go for it."
"I think I'm being considered as an international actor, which is great because I started off in England and I have an audience there and I now have an audience in the states," Elba adds. "And the states was always my goal, Hollywood is always my goal, and I came and I conquered."
