Tyler Perry is having a pretty good month, we must say. The director-producer-actor is currently gracing the November issue of Essence and in his interview discusses the love he feels for the women who support him.
"When Black women are down with you and in your corner, you have an ally that will move heaven and earth," he says.
That push is what's driven him out of homelessness and into a hit-making producer that has now landed an exclusive deal with Oprah Winfrey's television network. Perry will create the first two scripted shows for OWN that will premiere in 2013. He has already seen success with his two TBS sitcoms, Tyler Perry's House of Payne and For Better Or Worse, so he might be what OWN needs to continue their rise out of floundering ratings.
"It's a dream realized to partner with Oprah and bring scripted programming to OWN," Perry added. "She has accomplished so much with the network and I’m excited to work with her to be a part of its continued growth."
