The first couple are all smiles on the November 2012 cover of Ebony. Barack and Michelle Obama cozy up for the magazine and talked about African-American issues at stake in this election. In an open letter to "African-American Families," Obama discussed how he's helped the community during his first term in office and outlines the things he will concentrate on if re-elected in November.

Among the topics the president touched upon were education, crime, health care and jobs, saying, "African-Americans were hit especially hard by the recession…but over the past 30 months, businesses have created 4.5 million new jobs."

He also mentioned the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African-Americans and that "the numbers of working poor who don't have health care, who are African-American or Latino, are higher than the general population…the 30 million people who are going to be able to get health care for the first time…are going to be African-Americans."

Read what else Obama has in store for African-Americans if he's elected to stay in the White House for four more years in the November issue of Ebony.
