Solange Knowles gave great exposure to local designers during her cover shoot for Elle South Africa. The stylish DJ chose pieces from a selection of South African brands and pulled together some vibrant looks. For the cover shoot, which took place at the Roodebloem Studios in Cape Town, she chose Loin Cloth & Ashes shorts, a Tart top and Pichulik rope bracelets.
Everyone knows Solange loves to mix and match prints and patterns and experiment with color, so they pulled a rack full of the above for her to play with. Not only did they enjoy the two-day shoot, they also came to love their model's down-to-earth personality.
"She walked in dressed in a tangerine blazer, fuchsia wide-leg pants and bright lips. She was warm, open and friendly," said Asanda Sizani, Elle South Africa's fashion director. "After a meeting.... she quickly selected the pieces she loved the most. My highlight was Solange picking out and putting on the Loin Cloth & Ashes shorts, Tart top and Pichulik rope bracelets. As soon as she emerged from the changing room, I thought: 'That's the cover outfit.'"
