Beyoncé Calls Blue Ivy Her "Road Dog"

Mrs. Carter stuns on the cover of Vogue as she talks about motherhood and family.

The Beyoncé train has been unstoppable the last couple months and the singer, fresh off her Super Bowl halftime show performance, is gracing Vogue magazine's March issue donning designs from Oscar de la Renta, Alexander McQueen and Haider Ackermann. Inside, she talks about dealing with harsh criticisms and rumors, how her life has changed since becoming a mother, and how husband Jay-Z helps her through it all.
Calling 1-year-old Blue Ivy "my road dog, my homey, my best friend," Beyoncé says she formed a connection with her daughter during her pregnancy, feeling "very maternal around eight months," and felt that bond strengthen during labor.
"I felt like when I was having contractions, I envisioned my child pushing through a very heavy door. And I imagined this tiny infant doing all the work, so I couldn't think about my own pain," she remembers. "We were talking. I know it sounds crazy, but I felt a communication."
Blue Ivy might grow up with all the luxuries, but the singer is determined to grant her daughter a normal childhood with "school visits and lemonade stands and all that stuff," she says. Luckily, she has a husband who understands where she's coming from and can help her hold the family down.
"Just knowing someone's always going to be honest and tell the truth, can understand exactly what I'm going through and I can understand exactly what he’s going through," Bey says of Jay-Z.
Bey also gave some details into her HBO documentary Life Is but a Dream, which will air Feb. 16, revealing that the piece has healed her.
