Michelle Obama Presents Academy Award for Best Picture

The first lady gave the cast of Argo an Oscar via streaming video from the White House.

First Lady Michelle Obama made a surprise appearance at Sunday's Academy Awards to present the Oscar winner for Best Picture. Actor Jack Nicholson took the stage at the Los Angeles Dolby Theater and said that although the announcement is usually made solo, Obama would be joining him on this occasion.
FLOTUS, who appeared via streaming video during a break from the Governors Dinner at the White House, wore a shimmering Naeem Khan gown, accessories from Sutra Silver at Fragments, and pulled her hair back to a low bun to show off those bangs. She had the honor of opening the envelope and presenting the coveted award to Argo, a Ben Affleck-directed film about the search and rescue of six U.S. diplomats during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis.
"[These films] taught us that love can beat all odds," Obama said. "They reminded us that we can overcome any obstacle if we dig deep enough and fight hard enough and find the courage within ourselves."
She added that Hollywood and cinema allow children "to open their imagination and dream just a little bigger and to strive every day to reach those dreams."
