A $3.5 million income earned her the eighth spot on the list.
Successful models don't earn the big bucks simply on their pretty faces alone, but with a good dose of business savvy as well. Each year Forbes lists 10 of the world's highest-paid models and Joan Smalls has made her first appearance in the 2013 rankings. The 25-year-old Puerto Rican beauty came in number eight, raking in $3.5 million in the past year by strutting her stuff for huge brands. She has been featured in campaigns for Victoria's Secret, H&M, Fendi, Lacoste, Calvin Klein Jeans and Givenchy. She was also the first Latina ambassador for Estée Lauder in 2010 and topped Models.com's list last September.
Smalls, who's appeared on the covers of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and GQ, started her career in 2010 when she was chosen to walk exclusively for Givenchy. Since then her star power has only shined brighter.
Among other top model earners are Gisele Bündchen, who nabbed the top spot for the seventh year in a row, Kate Moss, and Victoria's Secret models Miranda Kerr and Adriana Lima.
