Chiara de Blasio Talks Fashion With amNewYork Tabloid

The 19-year-old goes vintage shopping in Brooklyn.

When it comes to fashion, Chiara de Blasio has always done things her way and now that her father is New York City's mayor, she's not planning on changing her tune. The first daughter of NYC recently went on a shopping trip with alternative daily amNewYork to her Brooklyn neighborhood's L Train Vintage, where she opened up about her eclectic style.
"I have lots of floral stuff, but I wear a lot of black, and I'm totally into metal [music], but I'm also into all these patterns and clothes that hippies would typically wear," she said.
During her shopping spree, the 19-year-old pulled items off the racks and easily mixed and matched styles to create one fashionable ensemble.
"Pulling something off is not about the way that you look. It's not like, 'Oh, I have this color hair or this body type or whatever, so I can't pull this off,'" de Blasio said. "It's all about confidence. I never, ever think about [whether] I can pull something off, and that's how I pull things off."
De Blasio, who considers herself the "fashion coordinator" in the family, said her mom has great style, but her dad and brother, Dante, could use her help sometimes. As for the trendy floral headbands that she wore during her father Bill de Blasio's mayoral campaign and on the nights he won the primary and the election, de Blasio said she's given them a rest, for now.
"I haven't been wearing flower headbands as much," she said. "I just kind of go through a lot of fashion phases. That's not to say they're retired forever, but I just like to mix it up a lot."
