Even fashion’s most elite feels the pain. Designer Tom Ford is the first to weigh in, telling Style.com recently that the singer's influence as a taste maker stretches beyond the digital space.
"Something new is happening that I’m just clueing into now — this probably won't go down well — but customers don’t care anymore about reviews or hard copy publications. They care what picture Rihanna just Instagrammed while she’s naked in bed, what new shoes she has on, how she’s talking about them. That’s what they respond to."
We’ll double tap to that. Ford’s props come along with the news that Rih will be honored with the Fashion Icon Award at the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards on June 2. The award recognizes her contributions to the fashion industry as well as her philanthropic partnership with the M·A·C AIDS Fund’s Viva Glam campaign.
