The 17-year-old actress will star in the brand's "Boardwalk Babe" campaign.
Hot off the news that she'll be playing Aaliyah in a much-criticized upcoming Lifetime biopic, Zendaya has just been named the new face of Madonna's clothing line Material Girl. The 17-year-old actress has impeccable style, so we're not surprised that she was grabbed for the brand's fun and flirty campaign.
"So honored to be chosen by Madonna and her amazing daughter Lola as the new face of Material Girl," Zendaya shared over Twitter.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, she explained why the gig was a good fit for her.
"I like the fact that it's affordable, but it's still edgy and cool," she said. "I just think it was a perfect fit for me and my personal style."
Zendaya will be featured in Material Girl's "Boardwalk Babe" campaign with Brooklyn, New York's Coney Island serving as the backdrop. In a press release announcing the news, Madonna lauded her choice saying Zendaya "exudes a confident, free spirit." Her daughter Lourdes, who plays a major role in the design choices for the brand as well as models for Material Girl, agreed.
"I love how Zendaya makes her own style rules to fit her personality — that's who Material Girl is all about, being yourself to the fullest," Lourdes said.
