André 3000 Honored With Fashion Exhibit at Miami’s Art Basel
Fans of André 3000’s funky jumpsuits will soon see his latest outfits on display at the annual Art Basel festival in Miami Beach. The Savannah College of Art and Design and the SCAD Museum of Art have collected the artist’s jumpsuits from this summer’s tour with fellow OutKast member Big Boi.
The exhibition, titled “i feel ya: SCAD + André 3000,” will run from Dec. 3 through Dec. 14 and features all 47 jumpsuits designed and worn by the rapper during his 2014 summer festival tour, marking the first time they’ve been displayed together in one place.
The fashion exhibit will be showcased alongside a film by Greg Brunkalla and artwork by Jimmy O’Neal. Once the exhibit completes its run at the Mana during Art Basel, where it will be free to view by the public, the jumpsuits will be on display at the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah, Georgia.
André 3000 said that doing this project with his “longtime collaborative partners at SCAD" was perfectly timed and that “the diverse group of people that come to Miami for Art Basel in Miami Beach are the right audience to see this for the first time."
