Willow and Jaden Smith continue to baffle the masses with the way their teenage minds work. In their latest fashion spread and interview for Billboard’s March 2015 issue, the celebrity siblings talk about music, philosophy and fashion. Are they wise beyond their years or feeling themselves just a little too much? We’ll leave that for you to decide.
When asked about their take on fashion and style, Jaden mentioned that his favorite comic book characters serve as his fashion idols. But while most boys probably see Batman and Robin as just two cool superheroes kicking bad guy butt in Gotham, this 16-year-old sees them as examples of the “polarity of life.”
“Fabrics definitely inspire me and superhero comic book characters inspire my clothes,” Jaden said. “That’s why I like to wear long drapey things because I want to look like Batman and Robin. I want to hit the polarities of life, show people that there’s a duality; there’s two sides to everything.”
Go figure. His 14-year-old sister also gave some insight on why she chooses her style, which she defines as “high-fashion nomad,” and what fashion means to her as an artist.
“I could literally climb a mountain and survive a couple nights in nature,” Willow said. “That’s a requirement for my clothes because one day I was on the freeway and I saw a mountain, so I literally just pulled over and climbed it. If you’re an artist, the way you dress also gives people a vibe of how your music is and your personality.”
As for what inspires the amazing Willow? Things like nature, crying, happiness, and a combination of other randomness that reminds her that life is pretty awesome. "When the sun goes down, when the song comes up. When I'm in nature. When I'm just by myself and walking around and just looking at the world happening around me, those are the moments that really inspire me," Willow said.
