Pharrell Williams is giving Kanye West a run for his money in terms of fashion dominance. The style icon has been named a co-owner and creative visionary behind Dutch denim brand G-Star RAW. Skateboard P, who has long been a fan of the "Canadian tuxedo," announced the news on Instagram with a photo of himself swimming in a pile of denim:
Williams began working with the Amsterdam-based company known for its denim two years ago when G-Star Raw started incorporating Williams’s Bionic Yarn into its Raw for the Oceans collection. The product retrieves plastic waste from the ocean and turns it into material for garments.
“G-Star is an independently minded and forward thinking company,” said Williams. “I believe they will be the definitive jeans brand of the 21st century. I am looking forward to being part of that mission and to co-create G-Star’s future.”
This isn't Pharrell's only foray into the fashion game this year. He recently brought back his brands Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream, both of which became huge names in street wear in the last decade. Last year, he was named the Fashion Icon of the year by the CFDA.
