Medium-Length Bobs - Shoulder-length bobs are back with messy, bedhead sexiness. Ditch the length and adopt a medium-length bob with deep layers in the back and across the top. Accentuate slightly longer pieces in the front. Maintain the length in the back to avoid looking too retro.

Ponytails - Ponytails are back in two extremes – disheveled and sleek. Sleek, shiny ponies with extended pieces a la Ciara or Bey will take us into spring. Take your pony to the next level with a never-ending “underbraid.” Once the snow melts, tousled ponies, effortlessly tossed up high or at the back of the neck, will become more popular.

Textured Hair - 2010 will refine the edginess of 2009, and what’s more edgy than wild, textured hair? Ladies, embrace your kinks, curls and waves with volume. Sassy blowouts and elongated curls are very much welcome. Use the comb (for blowout) or nozzle (for curls) of your blow dryer on high heat. Try flipping hair back and forth while drying for bounce.

Waves - Soft waves find a home this year, especially in the medium-length bobs. 2010’s winter waves are big, classy and reminiscent of the ‘70s Hollywood starlets. Spring/summer waves are slightly teased, finger-combed and have a shake-n-go appeal.

Funky Pompadours - Pretty pompadours maintain their fun, futuristic appeal. If you opt to do this style, remember: Go big or go home.
