The Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum

The Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum holds about 6,000 objects dating back to the early 1800’s. It’s the place to start exploring the contributions African-Americans have made to the city. The museum is located in the historically black neighborhood of Anacostia, which once served as Frederick Douglass’ home.
