Star Trends Worth Trying

It's time to spring clean and give your closet a refresh!

Stripes - The French have known it for years — stripes are chic! Thankfully, the fact that this print is making the trend circuit means there’s a lot more varieties that won’t leave you looking double wide (or like you’re the game-day referee). Exhibit A: La La’s easy, breezy maxi dress with tan stripes (which reminds us, don’t be afraid to play around with stripe colors!)  (Photo: FameFlynet)

Colored Jeans - Primary colors (like Jennifer Lopez’s red), pastels or neons, if you dare! Spring 2012 is all about ditching standard blue denim for fun and flirty colored jeans. Stores like Target, Gap and Urban Outfitters each carry different varieties, but if you’re looking to spend a little more, Joe’s Jeans and J Brand have good curve-hugging options. Pointy White Pumps - Step into spring with a white pump and take the bold look to the streets, wearing the shoes with everything from chic dresses (like Selita's) to denim.

A Pop of Color - Go from day to night in a snap with a look like Beyoncé’s: An eye-catching blazer, perfectly fitted jeans and neutral heels work on casual Fridays as well as at dinner with your beau. (Photo: PacificCoastNews.com)

Cobalt Blue - If there’s one trend to try this season, cobalt blue is it! The vibrant color can give an outfit instant cool and make for a bold statement like Kim Kardashian’s curve-hugging gown. The popping hue is being splashed on just about every fashion item you can think of. Take a baby step with cobalt by trying it on your nails (we love “Baker Street” by Nails Inc., which Beyoncé wore after having baby Blue Ivy). And don’t forget about cobalt-colored jeans! Tailored Suits - It’s easier than ever to get down to business this season with affordable tailored suits. Monochrome black, gray and navy reign supreme. Slimmer fit pants, like the ones Diana Ross wore at the Grammys this year, will give a more casual and modern feel while wide-leg pants look good in the office. (Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images)

Mix and Max - Most fasionistas have a staple black blazer and the warm months always bring a flock of maxi dresses, but this season they’ll collide. Although the season may tempt you to go boho, dressier maxi versions sing with black blazers too. Check out Garcelle Beauvais’s look for inspiration (and might we add she’s completely on trend with a striped bottom and cobalt nails!) (Photo: Alberto E. Haute Hosiery - Leave it to Rihanna to show us that you can be sexy right on down to your stockings! Fishnets are passé. The new variety of racy underlings boast stripes and are even fashioned to look like lingerie. (Photo: PacificCoastNews.com)

Peek-a-boo Dresses - Stars like Toni Braxton do it all the time, and now designers and retailers are giving us all more reason to put a leg out! Naturally, this saucy style has popped up on dressier frocks (even wedding dresses), but more casual varieties are getting the peek-a-boo treatment too. We love this look because it’s a way to bring the edge to an otherwise simple dress and can be just the right flash of seduction without letting it all hang out. White Blazers - When it comes to blazers, white is the new black. The crisp variation has become a Hollywood staple — so much so that even the guys are going for it. (Hi Kanye!) A white blazer dresses up any outfit, just like your standard black staple, but in a more fresh and modern way. (Photo: Neil Mockford/FilmMagic/Getty Images)

Red and Pink - We know, it sounds a little Valentine’s Day cheesy, but when done correctly this trend really is sweet. Nicki Minaj’s take — with orange for even more brightness — is a flattering way to add punch with the colors already built into a dress, but separates work too.
