With the withdrawal of troops in Iraq and an eye toward 33,000 troops coming home from Afghanistan later this year, a number of foreign policy matters have a direct impact on people here on our shores. Border security and the millions of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. are proving to be a contentious issue. Other issues include lingering concerns over Iran as a possible nuclear threat and ongoing efforts to bring about Middle Eastern peace.

Since taking office, the United States has brought an end to the war in Iraq, eliminated Osama bin Laden and started to steadily wind down the war in Afghanistan. President Obama has been criticized for not encouraging more engagement with Africa.
Mitt Romney supports a strategy that focuses on American strength. He pledges to keep troops in Afghanistan to ensure the goals of the mission are met. He wants to boost defense spending , strengthen relations with Israel and take a tougher stance on China.
