Nicki Minaj Is Definitely Not Endorsing Romney

Nicki Minaj and President Obama weigh in on rumors that the singer is backing Mitt Romney.

Singer Nicki Minaj is a bit of a chameleon and known for her many alter egos and elaborate costumes. And although she’s expressed political opinions in the past, would you take seriously a hook she made on a Lil Wayne song that suggests she is endorsing Republican Mitt Romney for president in 2012? On the track “Mercy” Minaj declares, “I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney, you lazy b----es is f-----g up the economy.”

Since then, more than 100 articles have been written about it and in a radio interview on Monday, President Obama chimed in on whether it was true.

"I'm not sure that's actually what happened," Obama told the Orlando radio station Power 95.3. "I think she had a song on there, a little rap that said that, but she likes to play different characters."

The president pretty much made the performer’s day. She remarked on it on Twitter, thanking the president for getting her “creative humor and sarcasm.”

She later added, “Awesome! Now I can tell my grandchildren that the 1st black President of the United States took the time to address a Nicki Minaj question.”
