An excited Obama supporter was caught on video during a Mitt Romney appearance in Cleveland, Ohio, on Wednesday not only urging everyone to vote for President Obama, but also claiming that he gave everyone in the city a free phone.
"Everybody in Cleveland, low minorities, got Obama phone. Keep Obama in the president, you know," the unidentified woman said before yelling, "He gave us a phone! He gonna do more!"
"You sign up!" she explained to interested viewers. "If you on food stamps, you on social security, you got low income, you disability…"
She trails off there, but when asked what was wrong with presidential candidate Romney, she kept her views on Obama's opponent short and harsh.
"Romney?! He sucks! Bad!"
Her claims aren't far off as the government does hand out cell phones to low-income families that can't afford access to communications. The Lifeline program, which is paid for by the Universal Service Fund, was created during the Bush administration and didn't originally include handing out free cell phones, focusing on land line communications instead.
As the price of devices and mobile phone services has decreased, the program has since expanded to include mobile devices, a move critics say is going too far.
