As second lady, Dr. Biden has toured the country to draw attention to the importance of community colleges. In 2010, she hosted the first White House Summit on Community Colleges with President Obama. As a young woman, she attended a junior college in Pennsylvania, where she studied fashion merchandising, though she would eventually shift her focus to studying English.
