How Do I Register to Vote?

Voter registration can be done in person or by mail. Some states require first-time voters to register in person. States offer their own forms through local boards of elections or county, city or township officials, but citizens may also use the National Mail Voter Registration Form to register or update their personal information, such as a change of address or party affiliation.
