At a Cleveland campaign event on May 7, an African-American female supporter posing a question to Mitt Romney said that President Obama should be tried for treason, an assertion the Republican candidate ignored. He drew criticism for not challenging her and prompted comparisons to Sen. John McCain who, in 2008, corrected a woman who said Obama was an Arab and couldn’t be trusted.
