Report: 200 Nigerian Girls, 93 Women Rescued
UPDATE 5:49 P.M:
The 293 women and girls rescued Tuesday were not those abducted in Chibok, Nigeria, in April 2014, an army spokesman said, according to the Associated Press.
PREVIOUS 4:16 P.M.:
The Nigerian Armed Forces has rescued 200 girls and 93 women from Boko Haram camps, they announced on their Twitter page Tuesday. The military has not yet confirmed if the girls were among the students kidnapped in April 2014 in Chibok, Nigeria.
"The freed persons are now being screened and profiled. We will bring you details later," the defense headquarters wrote.
The mass abduction almost a year ago sparked the #BringBackOurGirls movement, in which many including Michelle Obama, called for the schoolgirls to be released from the terrorist group and sent home safely to their families.
The military also reportedly destroyed three terrorists camps including the "Tokumbere camp in the Sambisa Forest Operation," they wrote Tuesday.
