Issues still not resolved between the two soon-to-be separate nations include: citizenship, debt, oil management, wealth-sharing and currency, according to the State Department. Another huge issue is the status of border town Abyei, where oil has been found. In May 2011, northern forces seized control of the area after three days of fighting. About 20,000 people have fled the region due to the fighting.
