Inconsistent Allies

Germany and the U.K. have opted out of a military strike against Syria, but France is still considering backing the U.S. in a possible armed attack against al-Assad’s regime. Despite maintaining a 200-year-old alliance, the U.S. and France have experienced several ups and downs, including clashing on former President Bush’s decision to oust Saddam Hussein in the Iraq War.
