Aung San Suu Kyi

Aung San Suu Kyi won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991 for her non-violent struggle for democracy and human rights, particularly during the brutal dictatorship of U Ne Win in Burma in the late 1980s. The daughter of legendary liberation movement leader Aung San, Kyi was a co-founder and elected secretary general of the National League for Democracy, a party formed to establish a harmonious democratic Burma.
