Dutch Holiday Labeled Racist

Amsterdam’s infamous Zwarte Piet, or Black Peter, a Christmas tradition, is under scrutiny again as Dutch residents protested to have the “racist” children’s holiday abolished. Some Black residents admitted to being teased for the month-long celebration, in which white residents don “Blackface,” red lips, and curly afro wigs to celebrate Santa Claus’s Black slave, Peter.
