U.S. Appoints New Ambassador

Philip Goldberg, formerly posted in Bolivia, is a veteran diplomat and the new U.S. ambassador to the Philippines.  The Senate, given the U.S. aid effort being coordinated from the capital, Manila, expedited his appointment.

There are over 13,000 U.S. service members who are involved in distributing aid to the millions of people affected by the typhoon.
