New Political Alliance Falls Through in South Africa

A deal has fallen through between two South African political groups who agreed to merge as one last week. The joining of smaller Agang South Africa party to the Democratic Alliance would have brought the party’s first Black presidential candidate, Mamphela Ramphele, since the death of Nelson Mandela. Helen Zille said Ramphele “cannot be trusted.”
