African Migrant Workers Exploited on Italian Farms

Many North African and Eastern European workers are earning just $20-40 a day for hard labor on Italy’s farms and forced to live in squalid conditions, Al Jazeera reports. The news agency reports that Italian authorities turn a blind eye to both the undocumented immigrants and the violations of the farm owners because the industry is run by powerful mafias.
