Germany Elects Its First Black Mayor

John Ehret, 40, a former employee of Germany's national investigative police agency, has been elected the country's first Black mayor in the village of Mauer near Heidelberg in Southern Germany. Ehret is the son of an African-American father and a German mother. A local news outlet said Ehret benefitted from an “Obama effect.”
