Uganda Journalists Return to Work
Ugandan police have allowed journalists of the Daily Monitor, a semi-independent publication, to return to their offices after a 10-day siege. A letter alleging an assassination attempt on senior army officers and government officials was leaked to the paper and published on May 7. The journalists responsible for the story refused to cooperate with the police investigation, according to a statement from outgoing Interior Minister Hillary Onek.
